library1 082621CHAMPAIGN – State Senator Paul Faraci joined the Illinois Secretary of State in announcing libraries in Champaign, Rantoul and Urbana will benefit from more than $205,000 in state funds through the Secretary of State’s Public Library Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grant program.

“This funding is crucial for helping our libraries address the specific needs of our residents,” said Faraci (D-Champaign). “By improving access to essential services and bridging gaps in funding, we’re empowering libraries across our state to become hubs of learning, engagement and connection for our communities.”

The Public Library Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grants are awarded annually to support public libraries across Illinois in providing services to nearly 12 million patrons statewide. This year, the Secretary of State awarded $18 million to 639 public libraries across the state to help fund new services such as public programming, dual language opportunities, internet access, personnel and more. The following libraries in Champaign County will receive grants:

  • Rantoul Public Library: $18,247
  • Urbana Free Library: $56,546
